Polly Want a Cracker?

ImageWhat I love about Halloween the most is the creativity that comes out in costumes. You can be anything in the world and it just takes a good concept, creativity and some DIY work to make it happen. This year I wanted to make my costume from scratch. I finished my costume today after a couple days of work and preparation. My boyfriend Mike and I wanted to do a couple costume and chose a pirate and parrot combo.

ImageI bought everything I used for this costume in a fabric and craft store. I only spent Php500 ($11) for the tule, fabric, feathers, garter and the tiny hat. The stockings, fingerless gloves and top I already had. I’m very satisfied with the outcome because it looks very coordinated. It’s definitely something I can party in seeing that it looks and feels like a themed party ensemble with fun accessories.

For the wings, I got shoulder pads and sewed the feathers on and attached a garter around it. I made a big layered tule skirt and attached feathers around the waist area. I bought a hat that had the existing black tule and feather on it and added more feathers.
